The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community thought their lifetime. Lifeworks is the KP community’s local office. Their mission is “Advocacy, Empowerment and Opportunity”. Lifeworks is a Westwood-based nonprofit organization that serves more than 2,300 individuals from communities in the Greater Boston, MetroWest, Norfolk County and Attleboro areas through a wide variety of services and programs, including employment services, residential supports, day programs and a broad range of family & community supports.

The Family Support Center at Lifeworks offers a wide range of general family support services and activities to families of children and adults who are eligible for DDS services and living at home with their families. Specific programs and services may have their own eligibility criteria, as indicated below.

Our Adult Day Services Programs offer individually tailored services for a diverse group of adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The Family Support Program offers a variety of Support Groups for family members of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other related developmental disabilities.
The Social and Recreational Department offers social activities, sports, advocacy and adult education groups.
Our Harbor Counseling Center is an out-patient mental health clinic that provides long-term and short-term therapies for adults with developmental disabilities and their families.
Lifeworks offers a wide variety of services and programs, including employment services, residential supports, day programs and a broad range of family & community supports.
Assistance to families identifying resources and service options available in their local communities, eligibility for other financial and/or state services and guidance on navigating the human service system. We offer an extensive resource library and access to the Internet. Family Support uses a variety of tools to update and inform families including Facebook, website links and other state-of-the-art technology.
Lifeworks provides support to more than 900 families through our Autism Support Center. The Autism Support Centers at Lifeworks help individuals and families navigate available autism-related services, provide workshops and caregiver training, training for self-advocates and offer enriching social and recreational activities.
ALEC (Autism & Law Enforcement Education Coalition) is a First Responder Autism Training targeted to equip First Responders with the knowledge and strategies to best serve individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders in a crisis situation.
